Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic : The Sith Lords est le deuxième opus de la saga Knights of the Old Republic et se situe cinq années après le premier opus soit 3 951ans avant la Bataille de Yavin. Dans ce jeu on y incarne un Jedi, homme ou femme ( il s'agit officiellement d'une femme ) qui a prit part aux Guerres Mandaloriennes. C'est d'ailleurs pour cette raison que le personnage que vous incarné est exilé de l'Ordre Jedi et qu'il survit à la Guerre Civile des Jedi.

Au cours du périple vous parcourez de nombreuses planètes qui sont Peragus II, Telos, Dantooine, Onderon, Dxun, Korriban, Nar Shaddaa et Malachor V en quête des Jedi qui vous ont bannis de l'Ordre Jedi neuf années plus tôt. En même temps vous êtes pourchassé par les Seigneur Sith Darth Sion et Darth Nihilus qui ont pour but d'annihiler les derniers Jedi. Au fil du jeu vous serez également amené à faire des choix qui vous feront basculer soit du Côté Lumineux de la Force ou bien du Côté Obscur. Ces choix affecteront vos compagnons de voyage auprès de qui vous devrez gagner de l'influence pour éventuellement les former sur la voie des Jedi.
